Mission critical equipment for use at military bases must adhere to stringent requirements to ensure reliability and personnel safety. The diesel generator sets required filtering to cover AC, DC, and combination of voltage supplies, combined with the requirement to meet specified emissions, vibration, and shock limits.In addition to this, physical space to fit a filter within the application was extremely limited, presenting a further challenge.
Due to the unique nature of the application and its placement, Roxburgh EMC engineers designed and manufactured a series of custom filters to meet military standards and the client’s specified parameters. An innovative internal component layout was designed to create a small footprint, and internal separation shields were fitted for combination filter types. Finally, a highly corrosion resistant metal was selected to meet the military shock and vibration level standards.
All generator sets passed emissions testing to military operational requirements. All voltage systems were filtered, and filter reliability exceeded the minimum requirements to operate in harsh conditions, enabling the equipment to be deployed.
